Ray D’Alessio
Ray D’Alessio
is a sports anchor for CNN Headline News, the network designed especially
for viewers who need current information to comply with their urgent
schedules. Based in CNN’s world headquarters in Atlanta, D’Alessio
joined CNN in July 2001.
D’Alessio
serves as the weekday morning sports anchor for Headline News, reporting
on sporting news events. He also provides live interviews with key
sports newsmakers for the network.
Previously,
D’Alessio was a sports anchor with CNN/SI where he filled
in as host for NFL Blitz with Irving Fryar.
Before joining
CNN, D’Alessio served as a sideline reporter for the Indiana
Firebirds for Fox Sports network as well as a morning sports anchor
for ESPN radio, 1260 WNDE, in Indianapolis.
Previously,
D’Alessio was the primary sports anchor and the sports director
at Fox-affiliate WXIN-TV in Indianapolis. During his tenure at WXIN,
he produced and anchored numerous sports programs and served as
a sideline reporter for FOX network’s NFL game coverage. He
also co-produced and hosted the networks Sunday morning Indianapolis
Colts pre-game program.
D’Alessio
earned his bachelor’s degree in speech communication from
Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill. He was also the
starting place kicker for the university’s football team during
the 1989 and 1990 seasons.
